ABRAHAM COMPLETES FIRST SEASON AT GUILFORD

Greensboro N.C. – Freshman Essence Abraham (Greensboro, N.C./Dudley) recently completed her first season with the Guilford College women’s basketball team.

Abraham, a 5-5 guard, appeared in 26 games for the Quakers as Guilford’s first guard off the bench. She averaged 7.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Abraham ranked fifth among the team’s scoring leaders, third in assists and second in steals. She scored a career-high 17 points with four assists and four steals December 5 versus Bridgewater College in a 69-67 victory. The freshman also led Guilford to a 66-63 victory at Randolph-Macon College January 21 when she scored 15 points and pulled down seven boards with two assists.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers finished with a 22-6 overall record, 13-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Guilford placed second in the ODAC Tournament and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The Quakers expect as many as 14 letter winners back in 2016-17, including Abraham.
