Pick #166 Overall
D.J. Reader

ESPN analysis on D.J. Reader from ESPN.com/www.espn.com:
Reader is a big, strong nose tackle at somewhere around 330 pounds, which is the style the Texans want from a typical nose tackle. Vince Wilfork remains their starter, but depending on his development Reader could offer the Texans some options in the next few years. He was a standout at the Senior Bowl, which has been a theme for the Texans’ draft picks this season.

  1. D.J Reader on Twitter:

Truly blessed to be apart of the @HoustonTexans organization. Now it’s time to go to work!!

  2. I can see the big smile on your father’s face looking down from heaven. He was always very proud of you but never boastful. Remember who you are and where you came from. Your Grimsley family is very proud of you!

  3. I think D.J. is going to do real good. I think this young man has a chance to start in the NFL. Good luck in Houston D.J. Reader.

  4. Andy, I wish we were talking about Maurice Harris today. If he would have stayed at QB he would be in the conversation about being drafted instead of Jared Goff.

  5. Maurice Harris(NG) did sign on as a Free Agent WR with the Redskins I believe it was and you may well be right…But we will never know, but we do wish him the best as he enters the NAtional Football League out of CAL…

  6. I had the pleasure of watching DJ at a young age at the downtown YMCA while I was the sports director and a few years later as an opposing coach while he was at Grimsley…. I know his dad is watching down from heaven and smiling from ear to ear….we had a ton of athletic talent in our programs at Central/Bryan over the years….Will Graves….PJ Hairston…..Keenan Allen….David Amerson…Marcus Gilchrist and now DJ….countless others I know…and so many more that were right there and a bounce or two there way and they would’ve been playing at the highest level as well…Congrats DJ!
