Powerade State Games Track & Field Adult Open Meet To Feature Olympians and 2016 Olympic Hopefuls

The Powerade State Games of North Carolina will host the official USATF Sanctioned Adult Open State Championship Track & Field Meet at Durham County Stadium on Sunday, June 5th. Field events begin at 9am and running events begin at 10am. The meet follows a rolling schedule throughout the day. The schedule can be viewed here – http://pag.ncsports.org/contentPages.cfm/contentVariable/Track_and_Field. Please contact Chip Hofler (919-724-3074 or chip@ncsports.org) the day of the meet for more specific times on when the Olympians and Olympic hopefuls will compete.

The meet will feature numerous Olympic hopefuls as well as some former Olympians, headlined by Manteo Mitchell, who was a member of the U.S.A. 4×400 relay team that won a Silver Medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Mitchell broke his fibula halfway through the qualifying heat, but still ran fast enough for the team to qualify for the final. Other former Olympians who will be participating on Sunday include Moussa Dembele (Senegal), Allison Randall (Jamaica) and Barbara Pierre (Haiti).

The Youth Track & Field Meet will take place on Saturday, June 4th, at Durham County Stadium, with over 1,300 participants from across the state. The running events for the youth meet begin at 8am, with the field events beginning at 9am.
