Powerade State Games Disc Golf at American Tobacco Campus

Among the seventeen different events that are being held this weekend in the Powerade State Games of North Carolina, the pop-up Disc Golf Tournament, which will be held throughout the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, is the most unique and interesting. The “never-been-done-before,” 18-hole course winds its way through the campus and ends in the Durham Bulls Stadium. Temporary disc golf baskets will be set up early Saturday morning and players will tee off around 10am. It is anticipated that the sell-out event (90 participants) will last until 6pm or so.

Other sports to be held this weekend include Archery, High School Baseball, Fencing, Figure Skating, Karate, Pickleball, Shooting, Youth Soccer, Youth Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis and Ultimate. The weekend kicks off with the Opening Ceremonies, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina on Friday, June 17th at WRAL Soccer Park. This event is FREE and OPEN to the public and will feature sports-themed games, giveaways, the traditional Parade of Athletes and Wool E. Bull lighting the ceremonial cauldron. The Powerade FanFest starts at 5pm and the cauldron will be lit around 7:30pm. The Bandit Flight Team will perform a flyover at the conclusion of the national anthem, just before the cauldron is lit.

  1. Big props to you Andy for repping disc golf! I’ve been playing for almost ten years now. It’s a very fun and highly addictive sport (not to mention cheap to play). I would love to take a crack at that temp course in Durham. That’s going to be an awesome experience for all the players involved!
