Coaches Check-In with Josh Williams(JANESH):With Coach Jones(HP Central), Coach Rolfes(NWG), Coach McGee(WS Reagan), Coach Upchurch(West Stokes) and Coach Stevenson(Glenn)

Josh Williams with the JANESH Football/Life Blog, and a former starting running back with the Guilford College Quakers, has talked to our area coaches and here is the most recent Coach Speak for this Week….*****Thomas Hennigan has gone down with injury for the Northwest Guilford Vikings….*****

Coach Stevenson with Glenn
I was satisfied that we came out of the jamboree with no serious injuries. I liked the way our defense ran around and swarmed the ball. Our offense kept it pretty vanilla. We were able to get a few guys into the game and really evaluate them being it was their first varsity experience. We had some expected mistakes being that we are a a very young team (4 senior starters). Pretty pleased overall.

Coach Jones High Point Central
Camp was okay. Not as good as we would have liked it to be.
We expect to continue to play fast and play hard.

We have some returning players that should lead us. We will rely on juniors that were jv players last year to fill the void.
Chavis Little rb who is a 4 year starter and the teams leading returning rusher. Curt Ervin a returning starter at slot and running back. Ja’quane Nelson on the Defensive line.

Coach Rolfes – Northwest
In regards to our scrimmage:(Thomas Hennigan and Tre Turner now both out with injuries.)
We got a lot of quality reps and rotated in a bunch of guys on our depth chart to ensure they are ready for play when we get games started. We did not have the services of Thomas Hennigan, Tre Turner, or Tristan Kilgannon who were all out for injury or medical illness. Tristan will miss the entire season due to having shoulder surgery. Thomas and Tre will return soon. We felt like we figured out a few things with two secondary positions on defense that we were trying to figure out. We also feel very comfortable with the progression Jacob Leonard is making at quarterback. He made some good decisions and managed the offense well. Our offensive line continued to make progress. We made some mental errors, but we sort of expect that more so now in a scrimmage than in game situations. We felt like we took another step with being physical up front and moving the ball on the ground.

Overall we have a lot to work on this week to be where we need to be by Friday. Our goal is to get better every day and to ensure we are doing things on both sides we can be successful at and win ball games with scheme and technique wise.

Coach McGee – WS Reagan High
Overall, I was very pleased with my teams performance. Our main focus going in was to not only execute to the best of our ability, but also play with great focus, energy, and effort. Although there are many things that we need to continue to work on, I am very pleased with where we are as a team and look forward to a great season with this great group of guys.

Coach Upchurch – West Stokes
We are learning a new offensive and defensive scheme this year. We are making progress, still some to to do. Look forward to this year’s team. Great group to coach.
