Baling Hay…Round bales and Square bales and getting the hay to the barn, while working on the farm…..
4)Put the ball in whose hands and say, “You must lead us”????
Tavaris Best as our QB/Slot Back/Punt Returner/Z Back…
5)More than any game on your schedule, and any team on your schedule, you have to/want to beat?????
West Charlotte…We have to beat West Charlotte, the first team on our schedule and that game will set the tone for entire season…..

1)The player on your team that reminds you the most of you?
Will Jones
2)The record for 2016, what does it realistically need to be??
We need to improve week to week and peak at that right time of the season and that would at playoff time….
3)If you weren’t coaching football this Summer, what would you be doing???
Would be at some beach somewhere and taking it easy…

The Five Questions for Coach John Patterson at High Point Andrews High School
1)The player on your team that reminds you the most of you?
I was like a Buzz Saw back in the day when I played and my senior year was 1976 and I wish I could play again…I was a lineman at 5’9 and around 170…Not many linemen may size around this day…
2)The record for 2016, what does it realistically need to be??
Week-to-week we want to be (1-0)….
3)If you weren’t coaching football this Summer, what would you be doing???
Would be a dad and I used to like to fish, but no time for that these days, it’s all-in football…
4)Put the ball in whose hands and say, “You must lead us”????
We have several playmakers and we have to let them get their hands on the ball…We must defend the entire field…
5)More than any game on your schedule, and any team on your schedule, you have to/want to beat?????
Southwest Guilford, that is Game One and that is our #1 most important game on our schedule….

1)The player on your team that reminds you the most of you?
Wes Alderman…
2)The record for 2016, what does it realistically need to be??
We need to improve on the (6-6) record that we sported here last year…
3)If you weren’t coaching football this Summer, what would you be doing???
I would be traveling and the point of destination would be the beach and would play all the Golf that I could down at the beach…

QB Bryant Barr and RB Zion Walker…

Game One vs. Southern Guilford and to become the team we need to be at Eastern Guilford, we have to beat Eastern Alamance, Western Alamance and Northern Guilford, those are the teams we MUST beat to to rise to the top of our conference(Mid-State 3-A)….

There are two, Brion Seagraves on the defensive side of the ball and Hendon Hooker, on the offensive side of the football…Coach Davis, a QB in high school(Hooker) and a safety in high school(Seagraves)…
2)The record, realistically speaking, what does it have to/need to be, we should finish the season??
(16-0)
3)If I wasn’t coaching football this Summer, I would be doing what???
Going to visit my mom or my sister…If was not in football or teaching altogether, I might be in the military for life or until retirement…My dad was in the Army and my brother in the Air Force and both of them retired from the Armed Forces….

1)Who is the player that most reminds you of yourself on this Viking team?
Cody Miller, our senior defensive back…
2)The record for 2016, realistically speaking, what does it need to be??
We just have to get better each week and show that we are improving from year-to-year…When we first came in we were young and now this team is showing the signs of becoming an experienced team/squad…You have to develop experience and then the year-to-year numbers will show and stand where they need to be…
3)If you weren’t coaching football this Summer, what would you be doing???
Would be at the water park or the pool with my kids/children…Spending a lot of time playing with my kids….Just about every other day, Coach Rolfes is arriving at Northwest Guilford High School at 5:30 in the morning and when you are going from 5:30 to 5:30, that is a long day at the school..
4)Put the ball in whose hands and say, “You must lead us”????
Thomas Hennigan, the hybrid back who will play QB, RB, WR and probably take on some sort of defensive role as well…(That is our thinking on the defensive role, the coach was primarily referring to Hennigan’s offensive duties)….When Hennigan is not under center, Jacob Leonard will be the Vikings’ signal caller and Coach Rolfes, has a lot of confidence in Leonard and he calls him the QB of the future and the QB of the present…
5)More than any other team on your schedule who do you need/have to beat?????
The Northern Guilford Nighthawks….(We would think that it needs to happen this year, so the Vikings can focus on all of their other business at hand as well.)

Cam Blizard, our center…

We just want to get better every week and will look at our standing/record at the end of each week…

Would head to the beach for an Extended Stay…

Grimsley, the first game of the season and then each game week-by-week after that is what counts and matters the most…

1)The player on your team, that most reminds you of you?
Jordan Smith…Left Tackle and a senior…
2)The record for 2016, realistically speaking, what should the regular season record be??
We want to make the playoffs and with the JV team we had last year(7-3) for 2015, it is time for us to get back to the playoffs again and we wouldn’t mind matching or topping what the JV team did last year and those kids are ready, since they have been there and tasted that winning(7-3) success…
3)If you weren’t coaching football this Summer, what would you be doing???
Playing Golf
4)Whose hands do you have to put the ball into, and say to that player, “You Must Lead Us”????
Gerald Simpson and he is the man that will get his hands on the ball, first and foremost, since he is our QB….But we have a chart with several players names on it and they have to get their touches in order for us to be successful….
5)More than any other team on your schedule, who do you want to beat?????
The team really wants Eastern Guilford and Northern Guilford….EG is right in our backyard and Northern grew from out of our district when the expansion of the schools hit…

Hiking the mountain trails and fishing…
4)More that anybody else on the schedule, the team you have to beat????
Northwest Guilford, you have to win the first game of the season, no matter who you are facing/playing….You have to get that first game under your belt, as a “W”…
