GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team, under third-year Head Coach Kaci Pike, was picked to finish sixth in the USA South Athletic Conference Eastern Division, the conference announced Thursday.

“Our team has come a long way since the end of last season in all aspects,” Coach Pike said. “Our players have become the driving force behind the changes and direction, and our goal is to always grow and get better on the court.

“We hope to meld our individual success with team success.”

The Pride finished 7-23 overall last season, going 3-16 in USA South play.

This season, the Pride will look for veteran leadership as Emily Horn, Parker Ann Powell, Britney Fleming, Breanna Wilton, and Alexis Terrette join 14 returners from last year’s team.

Averett University, which topped the divisional rankings last season, was picked to repeat after receiving five first-place votes. Meredith College received the other three divisional first-place votes.

The Pride volleyball team will open its 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic. Greensboro will take on the host Bullets at 3 p.m. before squaring off with the Seagulls of Salisbury University at 5 p.m. For more information on Pride volleyball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
