ELON, N.C. – Elon University men’s golf coach Don Hill has announced that Patrick Fordigh (Westwood, Mass. / Westwood) has transferred to the Phoenix program after competing with the University of Denver and Louisville for the past three seasons. Per NCAA transfer rules, Fordigh cannot compete until the 2017-18 season and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
“I’m thrilled that Patrick Frodigh is joining the Elon Men’s Golf program,” Hill said. “Going back to his junior golf days, Patrick has played great golf and we expect him to contribute in a big way during his tenure at Elon.”
Last season with Louisville in 2015-16, Fordigh was one of five Cardinals to appear in all four of the tournaments during the fall season. During his junior campaign, he competed in six total tournaments on the year and tallied a 74.78 stroke average. Fordigh recorded a top-20 result at the ACC/SEC Challenge after finishing tied for 16th with a season-low 215 (+2). His best 18-hole score came in the second round of the ACC/SEC Challenge when he shot an even-par 71.
Prior to heading to Louisville, Fordigh competed for two seasons at the University of Denver. During his sophomore season in 2014-15, he earned First Team All-Summit League honors after participating in nine tournaments. He registered his best finish at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite where he shot 3-under par and placed sixth. Fordigh also had other top-10 finishes, which included an eighth place finish at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate and a 10th overall finish at the Oak Hills Invitational. During his freshman season in 2013-14, he was a contributor of the Ram Masters Invitational Team Title and earned a top-20 finish at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate.
Prior to the start of his collegiate career, Fordigh was named an FCWT All-American and won back-to-back Massachusetts state championships in 2011 and 2012. He was also named Tri-Valley League MVP and was a NEPGA Junior Champion and Massachusetts Junior Amateur Champion in 2012.
