Cross Country
Elon Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m., Elon Cross Country Course

• Elon hosts its second meet of the year with the Elon Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10. The men’s 8K starts at 10 a.m. followed by the women’s 5K at 11 a.m.
• The Phoenix cross country programs began the 2016 season last Thursday, Sept. 1, with the Elon Opener. The Elon women’s team finished second overall in their race to winner North Carolina, while sophomore Nick Ciolkowski won the men’s 6K race with a time of 18:32.
• Kimberly Johansen was the top women’s finisher for the Phoenix in the 4K race at the Elon Opener. The Chelmsford, England, native was third overall in the race with a time of 14:16.

Football (0-1)
Elon Football Live Radio Show, Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., The Fat Frogg
Elon at Charlotte, Saturday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m., Charlotte, N.C.

• Elon kicker John Gallagher ascended in to third place on the program’s all-time field goals chart in Saturday’s game with Gardner-Webb. Gallagher’s two makes upped his career total to 37 field goals made.
• The Phoenix will travel to Charlotte for a date with the 49ers this weekend. The game will mark Elon’s ninth against an FBS opponent as Charlotte is a member of Conference USA.
• Elon defeated Charlotte 20-13 at Rhodes Stadium in 2014. That is the only meeting between the two programs.

Men’s Soccer (3-1)
Elon at College of Charleston, Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m., Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

• The Phoenix gets an early start on Colonial Athletic Association play as Elon travels to take on College of Charleston on Saturday, Sept. 10.
• The Phoenix won the Elon/High Point Classic last weekend with victories over both St. Bonaventure and Detroit Mercy. Elijah Agu was named the tournament MVP with Nick Adamczyk, Luke Matthews and Amir Berkane joining him on the all-tournament team.
• Agu became the first Phoenix player since 2005 to score a hat trick in a game after the Cary, N.C., native netted three in Elon’s 6-0 victory over St. Bonaventure last Friday, Sept. 2. The 6-0 win was Elon’s largest margin of victory at the Division I level.

Volleyball (4-2)

Elon Phoenix Classic
Elon vs. Norfolk State, Friday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m., Alumni Gym

Elon vs. Delaware State, Saturday, Sept. 10, at 11:30 a.m., Alumni Gym

• The Phoenix posted a 3-1 record last week after a sweep at North Carolina A&T and wins over Youngstown State and UNCG in the Tussle in the Triad. Both Kayla Agae and Sydel Curry were named the to the Tussle in the Triad all-tournament team, while Elon head coach Mary Tendler earned her 200th career win after the win at A&T.
• The maroon and gold travels to Davidson on Tuesday to face the Wildcats for the second time since both teams departed the Southern Conference. The all-time series is even at 11-all after Elon claimed a 3-0 win last year in Alumni Gym.
• The Phoenix hosts its annual Elon Phoenix Classic tournament this weekend in Alumni Gym. Elon welcomes Norfolk State, Wofford, Delaware State and Gardner-Webb for the tournament, facing the Spartans and Terriers on Friday before taking on the Hornets and Runnin’ Bulldogs on Saturday.

Women’s Soccer (3-3)
Elon at Charlotte, Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., Charlotte, N.C.
Elon vs. Richmond, Sunday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m., Elon, N.C.

• The Phoenix completes its four-match road trip on Thursday night with a contest at Charlotte. Then, the team will return to Rudd Field on Sunday afternoon to face Richmond.
• Elon earned two tough road victories this past week. The maroon and gold defeated Coastal Carolina 2-1 on Thursday and shut out Western Carolina 1-0 on Sunday.
• Erin Tanhauser and Sarah Henson both scored game-winning goals in the 77th minute against Coastal Carolina and Western Carolina respectively. Bria Bass also contributed with two assists and goalkeeper Katelyn Fowler kept a clean sheet in all of her 135 minutes of action in both matches.
