Elon Men’s Soccer Fourth in Midwest Region; Receiving Votes in NSCAA Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Coming off an undefeated weekend at its home tournament and sporting a 3-1 record overall, the Elon University men’s soccer team was ranked at No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Midwest Region Poll as released on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Phoenix was also receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25 poll.

Elon received 23 votes in the national poll, the second time this season the program has received votes in the weekly rankings and the third most among teams receiving votes. Among Colonial Athletic Association schools, Delaware is the only other school either ranked or receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25 poll with the Blue Hens coming in ranked at No. 22.

Regionally, the Phoenix sits behind Indiana, Maryland and Delaware in the Midwest. Elon is currently ahead of Saint Louis, UNCW, William & Mary, Rhode Island, College of Charleston and Michigan State in the region top-10. Last week, Elon was not ranked in either poll after receiving its first loss of the season versus San Diego.

The Phoenix is back in action this Saturday, Sept. 10, to kickoff CAA play at CofC. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
