Elon Duo Earns CAA Cross Country Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore Coralea Geraniotis and freshman Richie Kasper of the Elon University cross country teams were named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s and Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Geraniotis claimed her first career league weekly award after the Orleans, Mass., native took individual medalist honors at the Elon Invitational last Saturday, Sept. 10. The reigning CAA Female Cross Country Rookie of the Year clocked a 18:48 in the 5K race which was her first of the season. The Elon women ended up capturing the team title at its home meet with 15 points.

Kasper clocked a 27:07 in his second collegiate race in the men’s 8K run. The Robbinsville, N.J., native finished the meet as the runner-up overall and helped the maroon and gold men to the team title with 20 points.

Both Phoenix cross country teams return to action on Friday, Sept. 16, to race at the Adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C.
