Long-time Greensboro Colt Baseball leader and former Southeast Guilford assistant baseball coach Larry Moore has left us at age 77

Mr. Moore was a good man, I will go a step further and say Mr. Moore was a great man…

Larry Moore was nothing more that, a battler….He had battled illness and poor health for many years, but if he had problems, he never let them get in the way or slow him down….Mr. Moore could go all day long with the best of them and he always had a good mind and he could tell you what was going on, and he did not hold anything back, he told you how it was and he shared the truth…

Larry Moore and his wife Patsy were great people and they were community people and they served Greensboro Colt Baseball for many years and they put their heart and soul into what they were doing and they knew what they were doing and they did it well…

Larry Moore and Patsy Moore ran that Thrifty Market down on East Market Street for what seemed like forever and I went in there many times over the years and it was always good to see a friendly face like that of Mrs. Moore behind the counter and the good thing about the Moores, along with their son Kevan, they treated people right…It didn’t matter who you were or what side of the street you lived on, or even what street you lived on, or where you were coming in from, they treated you fair and they did you right…

Man, I think they were cashing checks maybe before anybody else in town was doing it and they did it for what seems like forever at the Thrifty Market, on East Market Street…For some crazy reason, I really liked that Thrifty Market…It sort of seemed like a throwback to the curb markets that you would see out on West Market Street/Highway 421 and on Randleman Road/Highway 220, back in the day…

Larry and Patsy Moore would hold court with the Greensboro Colt Baseball program…They along with George Warner, Bernie Myers, Dave Thomas, Bill Britt and modern-day you have Donnie Stowe and Miguel Paula and Don/Donnie Stowe has been at Colt Baseball forever too, well this whole group, Larry and Patsy Moore and the other names that we have mentioned, they are the Greensboro Colt Baseball legends…Based on time and service, they are the ones…

Mr. Moore also spent many years as an assistant coach along-side head coach Kevin Callahan, coaching high school baseball at Southeast Guilford High School…Many years of time, service and donations made to those Southeast Guilford Falcons baseball teams and to the program as a whole…

Larry Moore was again, just a good man and many ways a great man and what made him great was the steadying influence that his wife Patsy provided…She was almost like a first lady to the President….Mrs. Moore always very positive and always looking to do the right thing and making sure everything remained in order and she made Mr. Moore and Kevan look good and she didn’t mind being in the background and making sure the Moore men got the job done and they would get the credit and Mrs. Moore did not mind seeing the bosses at the top and her spot being that of the special advisor, who in the end, would end up being the key cog of the overall Moore foundation…

Just a good family and a good group of people who didn’t mind rolling up their sleeves and giving back to our community…

Mr. Moore and his wife Patsy are being missed already and let’s keep their family with Kevan, Sharon, Clint and Megan in your thoughts and prayers…

RIP Larry and Patsy Moore and you have earned that rest…..
