College Cross Country Results – Guilford Collects Two Top-25 Finishes at Loaded adidas Cross Country Challenge

CARY, N.C. – Guilford College’s Caleb Amstutz and Kate Jenkins-Sullivan clinched top-25 finishes in Friday evening’s adidas Cross Country Invitational at WakeMed Soccer Park. The meet featured two different races: one for Division I athletes and the other for Division II and III teams along with club organizations.

Jenkins-Sullivan placed 21st with a time of 22:12.8, just 5.3 seconds outside of a top-20 spot. Jenkins-Sullivan’s time stood just 2.15 second outside of Guilford’s top-40 all-time five-kilometer finishes.

Samantha Brooks and Ava Nadel battled for Guilford’s second-fastest time, with Brooks placing-31st with a time of 24:13.2, warding off the next-best finish by 2.5 seconds and shattering her personal-best by 19 seconds. Nadel placed 33rd with a time of 24:23.9, her fastest time in two years. Her finish was 6.9 seconds off of her personal-best, set September 6th, 2014.

Amstutz led the men’s team, who placed fifth out of seven and second out of three Division III schools, with a 22nd-place finish thanks to a five-kilometer time of 17:21.2, one-tenth of a second away from 21st place and two seconds away from a top-20 finish. Amstutz shattered his personal-best time by 43 seconds while earning 17 points.

Colin Dossel (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) finished with the second-best Guilford time, finishing 38th with a time of 18:09.3. Dossel was in a pack where nine seconds separated 34th place from 38th place.

The Quakers return to the course October 1st, running in the Hagen-Stone Classic just outside of Greensboro to remain at home during Guilford’s Homecoming weekend.
