College Volleyball Results – Guilford Splits Two ODAC Matches

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s volleyball team split two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matches Saturday in the Ragan-Brown Field House. The Quakers opened with a 3-0 loss to Randolph-Macon College before rebounding with a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan College.

In the opener, Randolph-Macon (5-3, 3-0 ODAC) won eight of the first 10 points and never looked back in a 25-5, 25-12, 25-23 victory. The Yellow Jackets hit .429 as a team in the first set, while Guilford managed only three kills and had 10 errors for a -.233 hitting percentage in the opening game. Mariah Clark paced Randolph-Macon with eight kills on .250 hitting and Rebecca McGilvery added seven putaways and nine digs. Erin Quinn set up 28 assists and also had nine pickups. Samantha Sallade picked up a match-best 21 digs.

Casey Davis had four of Guilford’s 15 kills in the match. Tina Eucker finished with 12 assists and Christian Ritter collected 12 digs.

The Quakers (5-6, 1-1 ODAC) rebounded with a 25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22 victory over Virginia Wesleyan, which fell in five sets to Emory & Henry College earlier in the day. Guilford hit .200 as a team for the match and had three students with at least nine kills. Davis led the way with 15 kills, and also had 18 kills. Rookie Jasmine Gaines had a career-high 10 kills on .304 hitting and classmate Morgan Tompkins added nine putaways. Ritter was strong on defense with 25 kills and Eucker distributed 35 assists.

Kristina Scott’s 15 kills paced Virginia Wesleyan (5-7, 0-2 ODAC). Amber Matalus had nine kills and Tiffany Bennett contributed nine kills and 22 digs. Emilee Pierson had 29 of the Marlins’ 47 assists.
