Pride Men Stay Perfect In USA South Play

Cary, N.C. – The Pride men’s soccer team (3-3, 2-0 USA South) used a strong second half to stay undefeated in USA South play defeating William Peace University (4-4-1, 0-3 USA South), 5-2.
Carlos Barragan scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute by turning one of the Pacers defenders at the top of the box and curling the ball off the right post and in the back of the net.
The Pacers tied the game in the 60th minute, but the game did not stay tied long. Obi Collins scored 24 seconds later by beating Pacers defenders and tucking home his chance.
In the 61st minute Barragan was able to score again on another shot outside of the box after Marlowe Lindsey beat his man to the end-line and crossed it back to him.
Even after the Pacers got a goal back to make the score 3-2, it wasn’t enough to stop the Pride attack. Andrew Moebius scored in the 75th minute after good one-two passing with Jared Heller to extend the score.
Heller got his second assist when he took on, and beat, his defender down the line and crossed in a ball to Sisay Sendek, who headed home the games final goal.
Jaimie Payamps picked up the win in goal, making 4 saves.
“I’m glad we were able to come away with three points.” Said head coach Tony Falvino “That being said though, I thought that we did not play our best. We didn’t play to our standard and struggled a bit keeping up our intensity for the full 90 minutes.”
“Hopefully we will learn from our mistakes today and put together a good performance on Saturday going into our game against Guilford.”
