College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 8, Hollins 0

ROANOKE, Va. – Guilford College’s Juliana Evans-Anfom scored three goals while Lauren Culler (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) scored twice as the Quakers earned a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Hollins University, 8-0.

Two of Evans-Anfom’s three goals came in the middle of an 8:05 stretch of the first half where the Quakers came alive with four goals after playing a mostly quiet first portion of the opening half. Allison Van Voorhies fed Evans-Anfom off a throw-in for her first goal in the 28th minute to increase the lead, 2-0. Evans-Anfom played a rebound off of a Cheyenne Grim shot in the 65th minute of the second half for Evans-Anfom’s third goal.

Culler scored two goals, one in each half, jump-starting the Quakers’ four-goal run in the latter portion of the first half thanks to a feed from Kelsey Reilly. Culler received the feed from Reilly and blasted a shot above the defenders’ head in the 26th minute to start the rally. Cheyenne Wright fed Culler from the left corner on her second goal during the 71st minute of the second half to cap the Quakers’ victory.

Camille Franks started the Quakers’ afternoon with a third-minute goal off a corner-kick pass from Morgan Kremzar, the first of Guilford’s 14 corner kicks of the afternoon. Samantha Bennett and Susan Dillinger added a goal a piece as Bennett’s goal ended the four-goal rally in the first half while Dillinger’s tally started the second-half rally in the 55th minute thanks to a rebound from a Dana Waskiewicz shot.

The Quakers out-shot Hollins, 39-2, and kept Hollins from taking a corner kick.

Grim (3-1) started the first half in goal before taking the field in the second half. Maggie Albert played the second half in goal, making two saves. Hollins’ Hannah Armstrong stopped 14 shots.

The Quakers (4-2, 1-0 ODAC) return home Wednesday, hosting Randolph College for a 4 p.m. ODAC contest.
