Patrick Bailey(Wesleyan Christian Academy) makes USA 18U Baseball Team

Patrick Bailey(Wesleyan Christian Academy) catcher has made the 20-man roster for the USA U18 Baseball team….

Bailey, an N.C. State commit, will travel and play for the USA team in Mexico, the last week of September thru the first week of March…

The USA team met in Cary, North Carolina for the early tryouts and those began with around 200 original hopefuls and then the team was whittled down to a group of 40 players that included Kier Meredith of Glenn HS and Kyle Blendinger, from Southwest Guilford High School…

That group of 40 made their way down to Houston, Texas and this past week they were playing baseball five hours a day with drills and simulated games and in the end, the catcher, Patrick Bailey caught on with the USA squad…

The USA team was playing games at Houston’s Minute Made Park, home of the Houston Astros and during the tryouts they divided the 40 players into two 20-man squads and had them play games and from there, Bailey made the cut…

Scott Bankhead, of the North Carolina Baseball Academy, was the pitching coach for one of the teams and they had the 40 players on the two 20-man USA squads with one team being the Stars and one team being the Stripes….

A very good experience for all three of our local kids and Coach Reid Holmes at Southwest Guilford said his pitcher Kyle Blendinger had just an incredible time and learned a ton while down in Houston…

Congrats to Patrick Bailey, Wesleyan Christian Academy catcher, for being named to the USA Baseball Team…..Bailey plays for Coach Scott Davis at WES….
