GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Elon University women’s golf team finished in second place at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate today, Sept. 27, at Greenville Country Club, posting the second-lowest team score of the final round.

Kelsey Badmaev finished tied for fifth place individually to help Elon to a runner-up finish, its best result since winning back-to-back events last spring. Host East Carolina claimed the team title while Morehead State’s Anna Magnusson finished as the top individual at 4-under par.

HIGHLIGHTS
Badmaev claimed the seventh top-five finish of her career, closing the event with a 1-under par round of 71 to finish at 2-over par (75-72-71–218). The senior led all participants in par-4 scoring with a mark of 2-under par.

Elon’s next-highest finisher was Heather Munro, who continued her solid play and finished tied for 13th. The junior’s final-round 77 moved her to 9-over par (74-74-77–225) for the event.

Aurelia Hamm fired her second consecutive round of 75 to finish tied for 37th at 16-over par (82-75-75–232).

Anali Otazo Rodas finished her first collegiate event with a round of 80. The freshman finished at 24-over par (83-77-80–240), good for a tie for 69th.

Hilda Kristjansdottir made the largest jump of any Phoenix in the final round and finished at 26-over par (85-84-73–242). The junior improved 17 spots on the leaderboard in carding a 1-over par 73.

NOTES
– Badmaev’s fifth-place finish was the seventh top-five finish of her career. She claimed individual titles at the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge and the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate last spring. The Phoenix also claimed team titles in those two events.

– Elon’s runner-up finish marked its best of the fall season. The Phoenix finished fifth or better in all but one of its 10 events last season.

UP NEXT
The Phoenix will be back in action for the Pinehurst Challenge hosted by College of Charleston from Oct. 10-11 in Pinehurst, N.C.
