Taylor Paradoski Earns CAA Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – After tallying five total points with two goals and an assist in a 3-0 win at William & Mary on Sunday, Elon University women’s soccer’s freshman forward Taylor Paradoski has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week on Monday, Oct. 3, as announced by the league office.

The freshman forward scored twice in the first half, scored the game-winning goal, and assistedTori Baliatico’s goal in the second half to lead the Phoenix to a 3-0 road victory against the Tribe.

Paradoski scored her first of the match with a clam finish off Nyah Spearman’s through-ball in the 38th minute to put the Phoenix ahead, 1-0. She then scored in the 40th minute after Elon won a free kick. The Rochester, Mich. native slotted home a redirected ball from Rakel Jonsdottir to extend Elon’s lead to 2-0 heading into halftime. The Phoenix moves into a tie for third in the league with six points through the first three matches.

Paradoski is the second Phoenix to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors this season as freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Fowler garnered the award on Sept. 5. In addition to Paradoski, Drexel’s goalkeeper Christiana Ogunsami and Northeastern’s goalkeeper Nathalie Nidetch were named CAA Co-Players of the Week after the weekend’s matches.

The Phoenix returns to the pitch this weekend with a CAA road swing up north at Hofstra and Northeastern. Elon will face the Pride on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. and Northeastern on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 12 p.m.
