UPDATE # 8 – 10:05 PM – All Finals – See You Friday

FINAL
Smith (2-5) – 0
Dudley (7-0) – 56
Dudley goes 7-7 on two-point conversion attempts….Passes, runs take your pick and throw in a punt return for a TD and a pick-six, both by D.J. Crossen, plus Hendon Hooker, the Dudley Panther QB, was well on his game after throwing an early pick himself, well Hooker returned to being himself and once again led Dudley to a no-doubter, in the Panthers victory over Ben L. Smith……Dudley’s defense was suffocating after the opening offensive drive of the game by Smith….

We got them all…..

  • Anwar Alston said,

I truly enjoyed the Dudley game tonight. The offensive staff ensured an array of athletes touched the ball in a blowout win. The diversity of ball carriers and receivers enamored me.

Caleb Matthews and Awstyn Williams at the DE positions controlled the tempo to the point that the LBs had very little work to do. The defensive backfield…

    What a team…

  • #'s don't lie said,

JV – SEG @ Page — Once again, The Spread offense VS The Wing T 3 runs and punt. What was the score ? You can’t run the ball against 11 defenders packed tight. The safety is only 7 yds off the ball.

  • ross said,

Dudley has some dangerous weapons on offense. Was glad to see the backup QB Richard Monroe IV keep that o rolling. Did not see our kicker Patterson.

  • #'s don't lie said,

To Alston and ross : And this beautiful offense of Dudley would also happen to be a spread offense correct?

  • ross said,

Correct. Spread in every sense of the word. Hooker likes to work the entire field. Seems like Dudley has too many options for a defense to “key” on any one player

  • Andy Durham said,

Kenjee Patterson was missing/absent last night and I can’t say he was AWOL, because I do not know that to be a fact, but you have to hand it to Dudley, because they were 7-7 on two-point conversion attempts and you don’t see that, all that often, and that is a very special level of success..

Myles White must be a tired young man this morning because he kicked off at least 8 times for Dudley last night and he did a good job with it…

Joshua Neeley same story for Smith, he must have punted at least 10 times and got them all off with the exception of the one Brion Seagraves blocked and recovered for the score…

Have to agree with Mr. Alston, Dudley got a lot of people involved with that offense with John Zellous having a big night, must have been targeted at least 9 times and caught 7 of them and there was #20 Kayon Brown, and Perkins and what about Crossen and Rush and Tony Burch and on you can go with H. Hooker, Q. Monroe and A. Hooker all seeing time at QB last night…You got options like that and they are working, makes for a long night for the opposing team…(Dudley hit Nigel Fitzgerald once on the sidelines and he caught the ball, but was called for pass interference and they came right back to him and he caught a nice pass across the middle of the field for very good yardage.)

Usually the Dudley LB’s, Peele and Conner are making most of the tackles, but last night with Williams, Matthews and others up front, the Smith backs didn’t have a chance to get that far, couldn’t make it to the second level…

Might have been a 56-0 game, but not a bad game to watch, Dudley put on quite the show and they handled it all well, they weren’t showing off or showing out….

  • #'s don't lie said,

The game of football has EVOLVED. Defenses are way too athletic and ahead of the game to pack it in and try to run 90% of the time.
Top NFL draft picks : Receivers, Dbacks, left tackles. exceptional QB’s and only stellar RB’s.

  • Andy Durham said,

    Some interesting info here:
The Hornets of Durham Hillside (6-1 3-0 PAC-6) came into Cardinal Gibbons (6-1 1-1 PAC-6) and escaped with a 41-35 victory Thursday night on a 99 yard kick return in the final seconds from Jamal Currie-Elliott.
    Above from WRALSportsFan.com…

*****Only loss of the season for Hillside Hornets was the home loss to the Dudley Panthers and in that game, Hillside did not have Jamal Elliott…Elliott transferred back into Hillside from the IMG Academy in Florida, the week after the Dudley-Hillside game…

Jamal Elliott with 2 TD’s in the Hornets’ win over Cardinal Gibbons last night and none bigger than that game-winner that left just 4 seconds on the game clock by the time he hit the end zone for the score….*****
