High School Football Saturday Morning Rewind:Remembering the shows at Shane’s:Shane’s Rib Shack will close at the end of the business day on Sunday

9:That would be the key number today, as the Shane’s Rib Shack on Westover Terrace will close at the end of the business day on Sunday and will not open again….9pm on Sunday and that will be the end of the Shane’s Rib Shacks in Greensboro….Not enough parking to allow their customers to come in and eat and the lack of the parking spaces, with all of the new businesses that have opened right around Shane’s in the past several months, have forced Shane’s to shut down….

When one door closes, they say another one always opens up and Shane’s still has a location remaining in Raleigh and they will move their operations there, but all of the good memories in Greensboro will be gone….Paul, Troy, Big Mike, Chelsea and Curtis and plenty of other great Shane’s people have been in there over the years….Lots of Football in Focus Shows and quite of few with basketball and baseball too…

We kicked it off back at Shane’s with them first Football in Focus Show back in August of 2008….The Shane’s was close-by to Grimsley, so we had the Grimsley football coach back in 2008, Mark Saunders, get us rolling as our first guest….With Coach Saunders included, Grimsley has had five different coaches since back in 2008 with Coach Saunders, then Coach Samek, then Coach Coiro, then coach Neal and now Coach Darryl Brown…We had most of those coaches stop in there at Shane’s with us over the years and plenty more from lots of other places/high schools/colleges too…

I could not go back and begin to try and recall all of those guests from all over the place that were with us up there at Shane’s over the years….The list is a long one and Thursday nights were sort of special when we laid it all out on the table at Shane’s from season-to-season, but with Football in Focus always being the main focus that would get us up and kicking, from one year, to the next….

Going to miss the next one and I really just want to take time to THANK Shane’s for all the great Thursdays and for being so accommodating to us and our guests over the years….

It all goes back to Ryan Leach who got us started at Shane’s and God rest his soul, Ryan is no longer with us, but we again had Paul Bullard, plus Troy Leach, Big Mike Leach, Chelsea and Curtis setting us up and taking care us at Shane’s so graciously for all the seasons of the year….Football, Basketball and Baseball/Softball and we even had volleyball teams and wrestling teams and we talked some pro wrestling and hit so many different topics at Shane’s over the course of those 9 years/seasons…

It is sort of the end of and era, but we feel for the Shane’s employees and all of the loyal customers who now will have to be looking elsewhere for their food and their employment and sometimes you have to be searching for your next meal, no matter who you are and what your circumstances have become….

Good luck to all of the fine Shane’s people, as most of their core/internal group will head toward Raleigh and the best thing about the past 9 years at Shane’s is the memories of Football in Focus, and all of our Sports in Focus Shows will be with us for a lifetime and we probably have close to 500 or more shows/different interviews that will still be available for viewing/looking back at, on YouTube….

Long Live the Shane’s Rib Shack on Westover Terrace and long live Paul, Troy, Big Mike, Chelsey and Curtis, plus all of those that were on the scene and making it happen at Shane’s and thanks to Don Moore, Dennis White, Wyatt Smith and many other of our GreensboroSports.com associates that were on board there with us Shane’s over the years and that even goes back to Big Jim Modlin and Doug Cockman that were still around back in the early days at Shane’s….

Lots of good memories and they will be with us for a long time and I really feel like we were able to do something at Shane’s that will have a redeeming value/lasting impact for many days and years to come, as we head further down the road….On to higher plains/planes, as we move on from Shane’s….

We are Remembering the shows at Shane’s on a Saturday Morning Rewind……And you may want to save some of these Saturday Morning Rewind Shows on your hard drive, since these Rewind Shows have a pretty good, feel good/make you feel good, feeling….

Also remember Shane’s Rib Shack will close at the end of the business day on Sunday(9pm) so try and get in there and see them one more time if you can and THANKS for the memories….

  1. Wow! Both Shane’s and our normal Thursday night visit will be sorely missed. I am really hoping they will come back this way soon. Thanks to all those at Shane’s that made it feel like home.
