Elon Men’s Golf: UNC Cancels Final Round of Tar Heel Intercollegiate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The final round of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, hosted by North Carolina, has been cancelled due to the weather forecast in the area. After two rounds of play, the Elon University men’s golf team finished 12th overall.

FINAL RESULTS

UNCW was crowned the champion of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate with a nine-under-par 567. Coastal Carolina’s Alfredo Ruiz and UNCG’s Jake McGlone shared medalist honors with a six-under 138. The Phoenix finished 12th overall at 27 over-par (307-296–603).

HIGHLIGHTS
Charlie May led the way for the Phoenix earning a top-15 finish. After shooting a first-round two-over 74, the senior rebounded tying a career-low round with a three-under 69, to move into the top-15 individually. In the second round alone, May drained six birdies.

In addition for the Phoenix, William Harwood finished at seven-over par for the tournament and tied for 55th individually. William Knibbs made his collegiate debut and is tied for 65th. Jared Mactas completed the tournament at 13-over par and Jake Leavitt finished 20-over par.

Dex Blank and Steven Segrist both competed as individuals for the Phoenix. Blank shot a career-low round of 74 in the final 18 holes and is in 69th individually. Segrist made is collegiate debut for the Phoenix and finished 17-over par after 36 holes.
