College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Places 14th at Golfweek Fall Invitational

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – Guilford College’s men’s golf team shot 300 in Tuesday’s third and final round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at the Raven Golf Club at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The Quakers finished with a 54-hole score of 901, good for 14th place in the 19-team field.

The University of Texas-Tyler (285-278-291-854) led from start to finish and won the event by 14 shots over second-place Rhodes College (286-298-284-868). Emory University shot 289-298-284 and came home in third place at 871.

First-round leader Conner O’Neil of Illinois Wesleyan University won medalist honors in the 95-man field thanks to shooting the day’s third-lowest score (69). His three-round, eight-under 205 outdistanced second-place finisher Alec Davis, who blistered the par-71, 6,717-yard track with a tournament-low 65 (-6) Tuesday to finish with a 207. Texas-Tyler’s Brandon Rougeau (71-69-70-210) and LaGrange College’s Logan Lanier (70-71-70-211) were the field’s other under-par performers.

Guilford senior Ty Palmer shot 74 Tuesday and carded the Quakers’ low round for the second time in the tournament. He shot 72-78-74-224 and finished in a share of 40th place in the field. Classmate Kendall Dunn shot 78-73-76-227 and shared 54th place with sophomore teammate Josh Hill (73-79-75-227). Harrison Frye delivered the Quakers’ fourth score Tuesday with a 75 that moved him into 59th place at 74-79-75-228. Guilford’s Kell Graham (76-76-79-231) shared 69th place.

Coach Justin Tereshko’s Quakers, ranked eighth in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches’ Poll, host the O’Briant-Jensen Memorial October 17-18 at the Sedgefield Golf Club, Dye Course.
