Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Setback Against Ferrum In Conference Play

FERRUM, Va. – The Greensboro College volleyball team fell to USA South Athletic Conference foe Ferrum College Thursday, 3-1.

Ferrum (11-16, 6-6 USA South) jumped out to a 17-12 Set 1 lead before Greensboro (16-8, 7-4 USA South) used a 4-0 run to pull within one. Samantha Kirschner tallied one kill during the run, while the Panthers committed three errors.

After Greensboro closed the gap, Ferrum regained a four-point lead at 23-19 before Greensboro drew even once again.

However, the Panthers scored the next two points to win the set 25-23, taking a 1-0 match lead.

Greensboro and Ferrum then traded points early in Set 2 before the Pride established a 15-11 lead, following another 4-0 run. Emily Horn and Meredith Summers each tallied one kill during the spurt.

The Pride was then able to draw even in the match with a 25-18 set victory.

Despite as strong battle by Greensboro, Ferrum was able to win the next two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-21 to secure the 3-1 victory.

Shayla Moss tallied a team-high 11 kills, while Brandy Johnson finished with 10 kills. Katie Clark led Greensboro with 21 assists in the match. Tori Blecher paced the Pride defense once again with 23 digs.
