College Volleyball Final – Roanoke 3, Guilford 0

SALEM, Va. – Kylah Blackmore’s had 13 kills, nine digs and a service ace in Roanoke College’s 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win over visiting Guilford Saturday. The Maroons prevailed, 25-22, 25-14, 25-10, to improve to 14-6 (4-5 ODAC).

Blackmore hit .375 and teammate Logan Graves hit .500 with eight kills in the Maroons’ victory. Roanoke hit .283 as a team, compared to Guilford’s (10-11, 4-4 ODAC) .025 team hitting percentage. Roanoke’s Alex Wolfe added eight kills and eight digs. Jessica Block contributed 32 assists and 12 digs. Ryan Hedgepeth had 13 pickups.

Guilford’s Casey Davis had a team-high eight kills, but a .000 hitting percentage. Morgan Tompkins and Michaela Allred chipped in six kills apiece. Christian Ritter led all students with 19 kills and Tina Eucker contributed 23 assists.

Coach Emily Gann’s club heads to league-rival Bridgewater College next Saturday (10/22) for a tri-match that includes nonconference-rival Averett University. Guilford’s home match with North Carolina Wesleyan College, slated for October 18, was cancelled due to the Bishops’ league scheduling concerns in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
