College Women’s Soccer Final – Virginia Wesleyan 2, Guilford 0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Brooke Adamchak tallied a goal and an assist as Guilford College dropped a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest to Virginia Wesleyan, 2-0.

Virginia Wesleyan (7-4-2, 4-0-2 ODAC) fired four shots in the first 11:30 of the contest as the Quakers held off the Marlins early. Guilford began to gain some offensive momentum in the middle of the period when the Marlins’ Amanda Baxter headed in an Adamchak corner kick in the 27th minute to claim an early advantage. The Marlins fired five more shots in the period as Guilford’s Maggie Albert held off the Marlins from increasing their lead.

Albert made three saves in an eight-minute span of the early portion of the second half as the Marlins continued to widen their shot advantage. Guilford held off Virginia Wesleyan late in the period before the Marlins earned a free kick in the 87th minute, where Adamchak converted off the free kick to secure the win.

Virginia Wesleyan held a 24-3 shot advantage over the Quakers and also claimed a 13-3 edge on corner kicks.

Albert (1-2) finished with six saves for the Quakers while Virginia Wesleyan’s Taylor Chapman stopped two shots.

The Quakers (5-6, 2-4 ODAC) return home Monday to face Randolph in a 4 p.m. ODAC contest rescheduled from September 28th due to thunderstorms.
