GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College sophomore Juliana Evans-Anfom (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) NCAA Division III Academic All-District V Team®, the organization announced Thursday. She is Guilford’s first women’s soccer Academic All-District honoree since Jennah Carter ’07 was named a second-team all-district honoree in 2005.
All-district squads are comprised of women’s soccer students from Division III institutions in the 10-state area from Virginia to Missouri. Nominees were starters or key reserves of sophomore academic standing or above who maintained at least a 3.3 grade point average. Evans-Anfom advances to CoSIDA’s Division III Academic All-America ballot, the results of which will be announced November 18.
A 5-6 forward, Evans-Anfom leads Guilford and ranks fourth among Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leaders with 1.55 points per game. She tops the team and stands eighth in the conference with 17 points and seven goals in 11 contests. Her 0.64 goals per game average stands sixth in the conference. She scored a career-high three goals in Guilford’s September 24 win at Hollins University and notched two goals and an assist three days earlier in a victory over John Wesley College. Evans-Anfom has 29 points (11 goals, 7 assists) in 29 career contests.
Off the field, Evans-Anfom boasts a 3.88 grade point average as an exercise and sport sciences major with a minor in art. She serves as vice president of Guilford’s Amnesty International chapter and is part of Guilford’s Honors Program. Evans-Anfom earned Academic All-ODAC honors last year, is a two-time member of Guilford’s Student-Athlete Honor Roll and a two-time dean’s list student. She also has volunteer experience as a soccer camp instructor.
Evans-Anfom has helped coach Michael Shenigo’s team to a 6-7-1 overall record (3-5-1 ODAC). The Quakers close the regular-season Saturday (10/29) versus league-rival Randolph-Macon College at 5:30 p.m. before making their first ODAC Tournament appearance since 2011 next week.
