DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Greensboro College wrestling team fell to Davidson College Wednesday, 32-16.
The Pride established an early 6-0 lead after Gabe Wilson received a forfeit victory in the 125-lb class.
Davidson then cut the Greensboro advantage in half before Christopher Haskin rallied from behind to record a fall victory in the final minute, extending the lead to 12-3.
“Chris came up with a big fall win after falling behind,” Head Coach Erik Wince said. “We told him that he had a good shot to win his match if he just got to the third period, and he did just that.”
However, the Wildcats recorded victories in the next five classes to take a 28-12 lead.
After the Davidson streak, Kacee Hutchinson continued his hot start to the season as he recorded a major victory over Ryan Devlin.
Vince Wilson then dropped the final match of the night, giving the Wildcats a 16 point win.
“We gave ourselves every opportunity to win the match tonight,” Wince added. “We got off to a strong start following the forfeit, but we definitely saw a difference between the levels of competition.
“I am really happy with our performance and we will work hard to get ready for this weekend at Southern Virginia.”
