Bill Hayes and Jerry Moore: Featured Speakers at Next Piedmont Triad Sports Club Meeting

Speakers: Retired College Head Football Coaches, William “Bill” Hayes (Winston-Salem State & NC A&T University) and Jerry Moore (Appalachian State ) are both good friends as well as Legendary College Football Coaches. Individually both have more wins than any other college football head coach in the state of NC

Bill Hayes has 195 wins in 27 seasons as a Head Coach. While at Winston-Salem State & NC A&T, he won three CIAA Titles and three MEAC Titles. Also at A&T, he had seven conference players of the Year and 51 of His players were First Team All-MEAC Selections. A number of his players went on to play in the NFL & CFL. Hayes was a two time MEAC Coach of The Year. He is also a Member of five athletic hall of fames.

Jerry Moore has 215 wins at Appalachian and 242 total wins from head coaching stints at North Texas State & Texas Tech. During his 24 years of coaching at Appalachian, he won 6 straight Southern Conference Titles & 3 Consecutive (2005-2007), NCAA Division 1 Football Championships Subdivision ( FCS – formerly Division 1-AA) National Titles. Appalachian became a household name when Moore led his team to perhaps the biggest upset in college football history when he lead his team to a 34-32 win over 5th ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2007.
