HPU’s Andre Fox named Big South MBB Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University men’s basketball sophomore guard Andre Fox has been named the Big South Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

It marks the first time in his career Fox has garnered the weekly accolade.

Fox averaged 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals while shooting 57.1 percent from 3-point territory in four games for the Panthers. He also shot 52.4 percent (22-42) overall from the floor and made 22-of-26 free throw attempts (.846).

He opened the week with a career-high 23 points (9-16 FG, 4-6 3pt FG) in 31 minutes of work at Virginia Tech. From there, Fox tallied 20 points, six rebounds and notched career highs in steals (4) and blocks (3) in a 63-57 victory over UNCG Friday in the Millis Center.

He continued his outstanding week by matching his career high with 23 points (2-3 3pt FG, 11-13 FT) to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 69-62 win over Navy Saturday. Fox was named to the HPU Classic All-Tournament Team for his efforts.

Fox and the Panthers return to action Friday (Nov. 25) at Clemson. The game will air live on ACC Network Extra/ESPN3.
