EMORY, Va. – Kylee Barry scored a season-high 14 points but the Greensboro College women’s basketball team fell to the Wasps of Emory & Henry Wednesday, 93-60.

The Wasps (4-1) jumped out to a 7-2 lead before the Pride (0-4) used a 5-0 run to even the score. Rasheika Gregory got the run started with her first basket of the contest before Katie Lewis capped it off with her first three-pointer.

After E&H regained a five-point lead, Greensboro came storming back to take a 16-12 lead, following a 9-0 run. Marla Crawford, Courtney Pearsall, and Heather Burton each had two points during the spurt, while Barry accounted for the other three.

Following the Pride run, the two teams traded the lead back and forth until the Wasps were able to establish a 48-39 halftime lead.

As the second half progressed, the Pride could not get anything going offensively as the Wasps were able to pull away for the large victory.

“We played pretty good for three periods tonight,” Head Coach Randy Tuggle said. “I don’t know why but it seemed like we lost steam in the fourth period and could not recover.

“Overall I think we took a big step forward as a team, while showing we know how to execute.”

Katie Lewis(Southeast Guilford High School) and Heather Burton finished with eight points each, while Keyona Hicks and Gregory finished with six points. Kamerin Williams, who finished with four points, pulled down a team-high six rebounds, while Courtney Pearsall and Lewis grabbed five boards each.

The Pride women will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday when they travel to take on the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University. For more information on Greensboro College women’s basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
