CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Carolyn O’Halloran swam the fourth-fastest 50-yard freestyle time in Guilford history to highlight Guilford College’s first day at the Yellow Jacket Swimming Invitational. O’Halloran touched the wall in 26.50 seconds, which missed matching the third-fastest time in school history by one one-hundredth of a second. She placed 39th in a field of 88 swimmers.

O’Halloran also swam on the Quakers’ 400 medley relay team that turned in a 20th-place performance. The unit comprised of Kate Nunke, Isabel Gutierrez, O’Halloran and Ali Augustine completed the race in 4:59.08. The same quartet represented coach Ashley Cox’s club in the 200 freestyle relay where it came home in 22nd place with a time of 1:57.32.

Gutierrez also swam in the 200 individual medley and clocked the 35th-fastest time, 2:37.26. Guilford’s Jennifer Urdaneta completed in the 50 freestyle and placed 80th in 46.12 seconds.

Washington and Lee University has the top spot after five events in the 14-team meet at the Collegiate School’s Aquatics Center. The Generals have scored 310 points, more than doubling the total of second-place Washington (Md.) College (145). Guilford has no team score.
