Game Report on Northwest Guilford-Garner Boys Basketball at Raleigh Millbrook:Vikings led by T. Hennigan, Turner, Spicer, Rakes and Davis/NWG(3-0)

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 82, GARNER 75
GAME NOTES:

The Vikings of NW GUILFORD set their compass for due east as they made an epic voyage into Raleigh. Meanwhile, The Trojans of Garner, also sporting 2-0 record, were anxiously awaiting the Gate City’s representative.

This matchup would prove to be quite an odyssey as the contest began with both squads trading baskets. The Vikings couldn’t quite figure out Garner’s “Achilles heel” as the Trojans fast break attack and relentless physical defense caused NW to commit several turnovers. By halftime the score was deadlocked at 41 apiece.

Last two minutes of the first half proved to be quite the precursor for the third quarter. The Trojans were using their full arsenal to slice through the Viking defense. Both teams traded punches throughout the third quarter, as NW took a two point lead going into the final period.

Following a late fourth quarter timeout, the Vikings managed to redirect their ship into much safer waters. They ultimately came out on top with an 82-75 victory.

Thomas Hennigan poured in 20 points and eight rebounds. Tre Turner chipped in with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and an eye-popping 3 charges. Jalen Spicer scored a dozen and served up 7 assists. Matt Rakes contributed with 10 points. Reggie Davis cleaned the glass with 11 rebounds.
