College Men’s Basketball News – Guilford’s Carson Long Named ODAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Carson Long (Pilot Mountain, N.C./East Surry) collected the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Award Monday. The sophomore is the first Quaker so honored this year and the announcement marks the first weekly honor of his career.

Long, a 6-4 forward, averaged 24.5 points thanks to better than 72 percent field-goal shooting and 45.5% three-point shooting in two Guilford wins. He hit for a game- and career-high 32 points in an overtime win over Eastern Mennonite University November 30. He made 15-of 20 shots in his second 30-point game of the season, and also contributed seven boards and three steals. He also had a game-high 17 points in the Quakers’ first win at Hampden-Sydney College since 2009.

Through six games, Long leads the Quakers in scoring (18.7 ppg.). Long’s 6.8 rebounds per game rank 11th in the league and third on the team. He is fifth in the league with 2.5 three-pointers per game.
