Elon Athletics Weekly Update

ELON, N.C. – Every Monday, Phoenix fans can get a look at the week ahead with our “Elon Athletics Weekly Update” feature when we will preview all the week’s upcoming events for our sports teams.

Men’s Basketball (6-2)
Elon vs. UNC Asheville, Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7:00 p.m., Elon, N.C.
Elon at Radford, Saturday, Dec. 10, at 4:00 p.m., Radford, Va.

• Elon is coming off a 1-1 week. The Phoenix defeated the FIU Panthers 84-81 in overtime on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and narrowly lost to the Georgetown Hoyas 77-74 at the BB&T Classic on Sunday afternoon.
• Brian Dawkins led the way for the Phoenix over the two-game span averaging 17 points and 5.0 rebounds. He only missed six shots during the stretch, finishing 14-of-20 (70%) from the floor.
• The Phoenix begins a two-game stretch against Big South foes on Tuesday night against the UNC Asheville Bulldogs at 7 p.m. inside Alumni Gym. Elon will then hit the road on Saturday, Dec. 10, to face Radford at 4 p.m.

Women’s Basketball (4-3)
Elon at Duke, Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m., Durham, N.C.

• The Phoenix plays its third consecutive game against a member of the ACC on Thursday, Dec. 8, when it takes on Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
• Elon dropped a hard fought 78-73 decision at UNC on Sunday, Dec. 4, as the Tar Heels managed to pull away down the stretch to secure the win. Elon dominated the glass, 42-28, against UNC and put three in double figures led by 17 apiece from Essence Baucom and Ra’Shika White.
• Shay Burnett recorded her second straight double-double in the setback at UNC, as the junior guard went for 12 points and 10 boards in 34 minutes of action.
