After a two-minute check-down, we found this out:Scuffling in stands leads to cancellation of Reidsvile/McMichael game….Hope to have more soon.
****On the high school wrestling mat, we are hearing Southeast Guilford knocked off the state’s top-ranked team, the Smith Golden Eagles tonight and this could well be the first loss of the year for Joey Gladson’s Eagles…*****

Elissa Cunane leads NG with 25 points and she had numerous blocks, rebounds, free throws and maybe one of the highlights of her night and a highlight for the fans too, was when Elissa nailed a three-pointer, to make the score 63-32 Northern…NG had a 12-0 run in the first half to take the score from 8-7 NG, to 20-7 Nighthawks…

Great chemistry among those NG Nighthawk young ladies and they take playing well together, to a whole new level…To go along with Cunane’s 25 pts. tonight, you had Mercedes Wampler with 11, Kelli Lomax with 10, Sammi Furlough with 9, Jannelle Henderson with 7, Kassie Robakiewicz with 4 and Summer Hucks with 2…Again, the Nighthawks working well together tonight…Madeline Hardy led the RC Cougars with 16 and Courtney Hunt added 6…

Northern Guilford coach Kim Furlough said she was pleased with the way her team ran the court and the way they finished on the break…That seemed to work for NG and it gave them a decided edge in the contest…Coach Furlough was also pleased with the way her team stepped up with Elissa Cunane had to sit down…Cunane needed breaks and there were a few foul issues here and there, but the Nighthawks were forcing Rockingham County to play honest defense and the Cougars could not just sag down on Cunane and load up the lane, NG’s perimeter players like Lomax, Furlough, Robakiewicz and Wampler were killing their outside shots, and this made for a balanced Nighthawk attack…

Nice, smooth touch on those outside shots and a lot net, but not much net movement, on those corner three’s…..Coach Furlough also felt like it fit her team’s approach to be able to give Cunane those breaks right before the end of each quarter, say with just inside a minute to go and she could stretch that time into the breaks between the quarters and that allowed the entire team to stay fresh in their attack….

Asked if this was the most challenging game so far this season for the (8-0) Nighthawks, Coach said, “Tonight’s game and the Northwest Guilford game would have to rank as the most challenging so far this season” and again Coach Furlough was very happy with the end result and extremely pleased with the way those outside shots were falling and with the way Elissa Cunane was able to work in and around the lane tonight…

When your outside shots are falling and your inside game is working what more can you ask for??? The players will find out in practice on Thursday as they go to work preparing for their game at Eastern Guilford, on Friday night…

Wednesday night was a good night for the Nighthawks….
