Fall 2016 Wells Fargo Conference Cup Standings:Page, Northwest Guilford and Northern Guilford receive high marks

Chapel Hill, NC – Wells Fargo, along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, has announced the final standings in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the 2016 fall sports season.

The Wells Fargo Cup award, sponsored by Wells Fargo and the NCHSAA, recognizes the schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications.

The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Wachovia, and now Wells Fargo, has sponsored the conference awards program since 1980.

How our local conferences did:
All-Metro 4A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with winning championships in football, men’s soccer, women’s golf and women’s tennis, Page jumps out in front after this season. In second place is Grimsley thanks to a women’s tennis championship and second-place finishes in women’s golf and men’s cross country. Southeast Guilford is in third place with third place finishes in football, men’s cross country and women’s tennis. Piedmont Triad 4A: Northwest Guilford comes out on top after the fall season thanks to championships in women’s cross country, women’s tennis, men’s soccer and volleyball. In second place is Southwest Guilford with a men’s cross country championship and a second-place finish in volleyball. East Forsyth is in third place with a football championship and second-place finishes in volleyball and men’s soccer. Mid-State 3A: Sweeping the cross country championships, along with championships in women’s tennis, volleyball and men’s soccer and a second-place finish in women’s golf, Northern Guilford is in first place. Western Alamance is in second with second-place finishes in football and volleyball and a tied second-place finish in men’s soccer. In third place is Walter M. Williams with second-place finishes in women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s tennis and a tied second-place finish for men’s soccer. Mid Piedmont 3A: Ledford Senior finishes the fall sports season on top thanks to championships in women’s tennis, women’s cross country and men’s cross country along with a second-place finish in football. Asheboro is in second place with a second-place finish in volleyball and third-place finishes in men’s soccer and football. In third place there is a tie between Central Davidson and Southwestern Randolph. Central Davidson procures second-place finishes in women’s tennis and men’s and women’s cross country while Southwestern Randolph secures a volleyball championship and a second-place finish in men’s soccer. Conference Standings: Ledford Senior 34, Asheboro 28, Central Davidson 25, Southwestern Randolph 25, Southern Guilford 22, Western Guilford 19, North Forsyth 12.

PAC 6 2A: With championships in men’s cross country, women’s tennis and volleyball, Wheatmore is the conference leader after the fall sports season. Not far behind, in second place is Trinity with championships in men’s soccer and women’s cross country along with second-place finishes in women’s tennis. Providence Grove is in third place with a second-place finish in volleyball and third-place finishes in women’s tennis and women’s cross country. Carolina 1A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with a men’s soccer championship, Hobbton is in first place after the fall season. In second place is Rosewood with third-place finishes in volleyball and men’s cross country. North Duplin is in third place thanks to a tied first-place finish in football and a second-place finish in women’s cross country. Central Tar Heel 1A: North Moore is the conference leader after the fall season thanks to tied first-place finishes in men’s soccer and women’s cross country. In second place is West Montgomery with championships in football and volleyball. Chatham Central is in third place with championships in women’s tennis and men’s cross country along with a tied first-place finish in women’s cross country. Coastal 10 1A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with a first-place tie in volleyball, Camden county is in first place after the fall season. In second place is Manteo with championships in men’s and women’s cross country and men’s soccer. Perquimans is in third place with a first-place tie in volleyball and third-place finishes in football and men’s soccer. North Central Athletic Conference 1A: Raleigh Charter and Franklin Academy tied for first place after the fall sports season. Voyager Academy is in third place with a second-place finish in men’s cross country. Swain County is in second place thanks to a women’s cross country championship and second-place finishes in men’s cross country and football. Hayesville takes home third place after securing a volleyball championship and a tied third-place finish in men’s soccer. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy is in third place with a football championship and a second-place finish in men’s soccer. In third place is Oxford Preparatory Charter with a championship in men’s cross country. Two Rivers 1A: Sweeping the cross country championships along championships in men’s soccer and volleyball, Riverside-Martin is in first place. In second place is Tarboro with championships in football and women’s tennis. South Creek is in third place with second-place finishes in volleyball and women’s cross country and a third-place finish in men’s cross country. Uwharrie Athletic 1A: North Stanly is the conference leader after the fall season with championships in football and women’s tennis. Gray Stone day is in second place with championships in men’s and women’s cross country. In third place is South Stanly with a volleyball championship. Class 1A/2A Conference Results

Four County 1A/2A: With championships in football, men’s soccer and women’s cross country, Clinton is in first place. Pender is in second place thank to a men’s cross country championship. In third place is Midway with third-place finishes in men’s and women’s cross country. Mountain Valley 1A/2A: East Wilkes is the conference leader after the fall season thanks to championships in men’s and women’s cross country and women’s golf. In second place is Ashe County thanks to second-place finishes in men’s soccer, women’s golf, and men’s and women’s cross country. Wilkes Central is in third place with a football championship. Three Rivers 1A/2A: Whiteville is the conference leader after the fall season thanks to championships in women’s tennis and men’s soccer. In second place is South Columbus with championships in football and volleyball. Red Springs is in third place with a men’s cross country championship. Western Highlands 1A/2A: In first place is Hendersonville thanks to championships in volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s golf and women’s cross country along with a first-place finish in football. In second place is Mountain Heritage thanks to a tied first-place finish in football. Polk County is in third place with a second-place finish in volleyball. Class 2A Conference Results

Central Carolina 2A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with securing championships in men’s soccer and women’s tennis, Salisbury is in first place. In second place is West Davidson thanks to championships in women’s golf and volleyball and second-place finishes in women’s tennis and women’s cross country. East Davidson is in third place with second-place finishes in football, women’s golf and volleyball. Conference Standings: Salisbury 63, West Davidson 57, East Davidson 56, Lexington 48.5, North Rowan 34.5, Thomasville 24.

East Central 2A: Croatan wins the conference after the fall sports season with championships in men’s and women’s cross country and second-place finishes in women’s tennis and volleyball. Dixon and East Duplin tie for second place. Dixon has championships in volleyball and women’s tennis while East Duplin has championships in men’s soccer and football. There was also a tie for third place between Northside-Jacksonville and Southwest Onslow. Northside-Jacksonville has managed to secure a second-place finish in football while Southwest Onslow secured the second-place finish in men’s cross country. Conference Standings: Croatan 58, Dixon 56, East Duplin 56, Northside-Jacksonville 47, Southwest Onslow 47, North Brunswick 44.

Eastern Carolina 2A: Greene Central is the conference leader after the fall season thanks to a women’s tennis championship and a tied first-place finish in men’s soccer. North Lenoir is is in second place thanks to tied first-place finishes in football and women’s tennis. In third place is Ayden-Grifton with a football championship and a tied first-place finish in men’s cross country. Eastern Plains 2A: In first place after the fall season is Washington, thanks to a championship in women’s cross country and tied first-place finishes in men’s soccer and women’s tennis. In second place is North Johnston with tied first-place finishes in women’s tennis and men’s soccer. Farmville Central and Beddingfield are tied for third place. Farmville Central with a tied first-place finish in volleyball and a second-place finish in women’s cross country. Mid State 2A: With championships in men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball and tying for the championship in men’s soccer, Carrboro is in first place. Jordan-Matthews is in second place thanks to a women’s tennis championship along with tying for the championship in men’s soccer and securing a second-place finish in women’s cross country. Bartlett Yancey is in third place thanks to second-place finishes in volleyball and women’s tennis. Northeastern Coastal 2A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with securing championships in men’s soccer and women’s tennis, First Flight is in first place. Northeastern is in second place thanks to a football championship and second-place finishes in men’s cross country and men’s soccer. Currituck County and Edenton are tied for third place thanks to a Currituck championship in volleyball and second-place finishes in women’s cross country and men’s soccer and Edenton championships in football and women’s tennis. Northern Carolina 2A: N.C. School of Science and Math is in first place with a tied championship in men’s soccer and second-place finishes in women’s tennis and men’s cross country. Southern District 7 2A: With second-place finishes in women’s tennis and men’s cross country and a third-place finish in women’s golf, East Lincoln is the frontrunner this season. Close behind, in second place is Lincolnton thanks to a men’s cross country championship and a first-place tie in football. Newton-Conover is in third place with a men’s soccer championship and a second-place finish in women’s golf. Big South 2A/3A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with championships in men’s soccer and volleyball, Lake Norman Charter is the conference leader. Not far behind is Forestview with second-place finishes in men’s cross country, volleyball and women’s tennis. South Point is in third thanks to second-place finishes in football and men’s soccer. Crest with third-place finishes in football and tennis and Draughn with second-place finishes in volleyball and women’s cross country. Western North Carolina Athletic 2A-3A: West Henderson is in first place this season thanks to championships in volleyball, men’s soccer and women’s golf. Franklin is in second place with second-place finishes in men’s soccer and women’s golf. Very close behind, in third place, is Pisgah with championships in football and women’s tennis. Class 3A Conference Results

Big 8 3A: With championships in volleyball and men’s soccer, Chapel Hill is the conference leader after the fall season. In second place is Cedar Ridge with a women’s tennis championship and a second-place finish in men’s soccer. There is a tie for third place after the fall season between Orange and Northwood. Orange has a football championship and a second-place finish in volleyball while Northwood has second-place finishes in football and women’s golf. Conference Standings: Chapel Hill 33, Cedar Ridge 28, Orange 24.5, Northwood 24.5, J.F. Webb 13.5, Southern Durham 12.5, Northern Vance 8.

Big East 3A: Rocky Mount is the frontrunner for the fall sports season thanks to tying for the championship in women’s tennis and second-place finishes in men’s and women’s cross country and football. In second place is Hunt with championships in men’s soccer and volleyball. Fike takes home third place after tying for the championship in women’s tennis and a second-place finish in men’s soccer. Conference Standings: Rocky Mount 66, Hunt 64, Fike 63, Northern Nash 60, Southern Nash 57, Nash Central 47.

Cape Fear Valley 3A: Terry Sanford is the conference leader after the fall season thanks to a women’s golf championship, a tied first-place finish in women’s tennis and a second-place finish in men’s and women’s cross country. Lee County and Union Pines are tied for second place. Lee County has a men’s soccer championship and a tied first-place finish in football while Union Pines has a men’s and women’s cross country championship and a tied first-place finish in women’s tennis. Coastal 3A: Sweeping the cross country championships and securing the volleyball championship, West Carteret is the conference leader after the fall. Two Rivers 3A: Thanks to championships in football and women’s tennis along with tying for first place in men’s soccer, Cleveland is in first place. In third place is South Johnston with a women’s golf championship and third-place finish in football. Eastern Carolina 3A/4A: Sweeping the cross country championships along with a championship in men’s soccer and a first-place tie for football, New Bern is in first place. In second place is D.H. Conley thanks to championships in women’s tennis and volleyball along with a first-place tie for football. J.H. In second place is Clayton with championships in women’s tennis and volleyball. Very close behind is Rolesville in third place with a men’s cross country championship. MeCKa 4A: After an outstanding season, W.A. Hough is in first place thanks to championships in men’s soccer, volleyball, women’s golf, women’s tennis and women’s cross country. Mallard Creek is in second place with a men’s cross country championship and a tied first-place finish in football. A.L. Brown is in third place with a second-place finish in women’s golf. South View takes home third place after securing championships in men’s and women’s cross country and finishing third in football. In second place is East Chapel Hill thanks to a championships in field hockey and second-place finishes in women’s tennis and women’s cross country. In third place is Charles E.
