GAME NOTES: The Middle Creek Cougars faced off against the home Northwest Vikings in the final game of the JP Looney’s Shootout.

After the first quarter, Middle Creek led 15-12 as they controlled the tempo for most of the night. Both teams went back and forth throughout the second quarter with Middle Creek keeping the Vikings at arm’s length with a 34-29 halftime advantage.

The Cougars extended its lead during the third quarter by as much as 12 points and led by seven to begin the fourth quarter. Middle Creek never relinquished their lead in the fourth despite a couple of spurts by Northwest, ultimately winning the contest 58-55.

The Vikings were led by Tre Turner’s 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Thomas Hennigan provided 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals while Reggie Davis finished with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Jalen Spicer contributed 6 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds and David Funderburg added 6 points and 7 rebounds.

Middle Creek was led by Shammond Hicks’ 14 points while Ryan Tanhelewitz and Daniel Jackson contributed 12 and 11 points respectively.
