NORTHWEST GUILFORD 65, NORTHERN GUILFORD 51

GAME NOTES: In a battle between consummate rivals, the 2nd semifinal game of the HAECO Invitational Tournament between Northern Guilford and Northwest Guilford was a fairly entertaining game from start to finish. Both teams battled back and forth throughout the first quarter where the Nighthawks controlled the tempo and led 10-8 at the end of the frame. It wasn’t until the middle of the 2nd quarter when the Vikings were able to string together some timely buckets to go along with a couple of defensive stops to take the lead into the half at 29-24. Northwest was able to play solid on both ends of the floor during the second half as they secured a hard-fought 65-51 victory. The Vikings will advance to the HAECO Championship game tomorrow night versus Greensboro Day School at 7:00 pm.

The Vikings were led by Tre Turner’s 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jalen Spicer contributed 13 points to go along with 3 rebounds and 6 assists while Reggie Davis added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Thomas Hennigan stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of 8 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. David Funderburg provided 10 points and 4 rebounds for Northwest.

Northern Guilford was led by Trey Johnsen and Andy Pack who scored 16 and 13 points respectively for the Nighthawks.
