Game Report on Southwest Guilford-Southern Alamance Boys Basketball:Dezmond Woods brings the goods with 17, followed by Keyshaun Langley, Lamberth and Martin as Cowboys done just past sunset

The Cowboys of Southwest hit the road over to Southern Alamance to face off against the Patriots in the final non-conference matchup of the season. The Cowboys are coming off of a home conference victory over East Forsyth, while the Patriots are coming off of a road conference loss at the hands of Smith. The Cowboys were looking for another sweep of the Metro 4A Conference on the season.

The game opened up with the Cowboys going on an 11-0 run. It wasn’t until the 3:05 mark that the Patriots got on the board. The opening frame slowed down a bit, and the frame closed at 15-5.

The pace of the second quarter picked up drastically as the Cowboys ran the floor well and got up 24-8. The Patriots put a couple baskets together, but it wasn’t enough to stop the tide. The opening half closed with Southwest up 44-24.

The third quarter opened with another 5-0 spurt by the Cowboys making it 49-24. At the 6:15 mark the Patriots got their first basket of the half at 49-26. But just sixty seconds later with was 54-26. Southwest controlled the tempo. A broken defensive play by the Cowboys gave the Patriots a layup just as the frame ended taking it to 71-39.

The final act was all Cowboys as the pressure and tempo of the visitors proved to wear down the Patriots as the lead balloon to exceed 40 points as the clock quickly wound down until the game ended on a monstrous slam by Christian Martin just before the horn. The Cowboys cruised to a convincing 95-46 road victory over Southern Alamance.

The Patriots were led by Harrison Cochran with 22 points. Southwest played a great team game with everyone contributing. The Cowboys placed 4 in double figures. Featuring: Dezmond Woods with (17, Reb, Blk), Brandon Lamberth (14, 3 Rebs, 3 Asts, Stl), Keyshaun Langley (14, 3 Asts, 3 Stls), and Christian Martin with (12, 3 Rebs, 3 Asts).

The Cowboys improve to 12-2 overall and hit the road again tomorrow night to take on conference rival Ragsdale.
