Game Notes

THE SERIES
All-time, Elon owns a 3-1 record in four matchups against the Huskies. The Phoenix won each of the first three meetings before falling at home, 67-61, last time the two met on Feb. 14, 2016.

ABOUT NORTHEASTERN
After winning the first two games of CAA play against Hofstra and Towson, Northeastern dropped four in a row to Drexel, William & Mary, James Madison and Delaware by an average margin of 18.5 points. But last time out, the Huskies got back in the win column with a 55-47 win over UNCW.

LOOKING BACK
Elon got back in the win column with a 60-58 road win at William & Mary after having its nine-game winning streak snapped. Lauren Brown knocked down two free throws with 1.4 seconds to play to clinch the win. She, Malaya Johnson and Shay Burnett each had 10 points to lead the Phoenix to the victory.

STARTING A NEW STREAK
Elon’s nine-game winning streak from Dec. 17 against ETSU to Jan. 15 against Drexel was the most the program has won in a row as a Division I program. The last time Elon had won that many in a row came during a 12-game winning streak in 1981-82 under coach Mary Jackson. That streak is the program’s third-longest winning streak of all-time.

CLIMBING HIGH
Elon checked in as the top mid-major in the NCAA RPI at No. 24. It’s the second week in a row the Phoenix is the top-ranked mid-major on the list. Elon also climbed to No. 12 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll, checking in as the highest CAA team in the poll ahead of No. 13 James Madison. Last week, Elon rose to No. 6 in the espnW Mid-Major poll.

MILESTONE ACHIEVED
Senior guard Lauren Brown became the 21st player in program history to surpass the 1,000-career point mark with a three-pointer at the start of the second half in the win at William & Mary. In doing so, she became the first Phoenix to hit the number since Kelsey Harris did in February 2014.

CHASING HISTORY
Looking to follow in Brown’s footsteps, junior guard Shay Burnett has scored 948 career points and senior forward Jenifer Rhodes has scored 935 points in her four years with the Phoenix.

LOOKING AHEAD
Elon will close a three-game road swing and the month of January with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, Jan. 29, at Hofstra. To date, the Phoenix and Pride have split the four matchups with Hofstra winning last time out on Jan. 31, 2016, by the final score of 59-49 in New York.
