Here is a very good recap on the St. Pius-Eastern Guilford girls game sent in by one of our readers….
Both teams were undefeated coming in and both teams have a lot of Lady Gater year round talent to work with, seven girls to be exact playing in the game.

Pius girls led by 5 after one quarter. Leading scorer for Saint Pius, Caroline Wyrick (19) went out in the second with foul trouble but the Comets didn’t miss a beat expanding the lead to nine at the half.

In the third quarter Mariah Frazier got hot from three and cut the Saint Pius lead to three, forcing Saint Pius to switch up their defensive scheme.

The fourth quarter was all Saint Pius as the girls pulled away after Diamond Monroe fouled out. Final 57-35. Saint Pius improves to 24-0.

Leading scorers for the game

Saint Pius X
Caroline Wyrick 19pts, 6rebs
Alaila Kreuter 13pts, 3stls

Not sure what the (NC) beside the Jackson at Northern game stands for, but the County schedule has that beside one game every game day and we know the Mendenhall boys are (9-0) and they might just have the best record of all of our teams right now and they are at Southeast today….
Here is TODAY’s Schedule:
Allen @ Aycock
Welborn @ Ferndale
Kiser @ Guilford
Lincoln @ Hairston
Allen Jay @ Penn Griffin
Jackson @ Northern (NC)

  1. Good call on the NC…I still have never really gotten a hold on how the Middle School conferences are set up…

Good call and I hope to attend that Aycock-Mendenhall game…I was at that game last year over at Aycock and Mendenhall had Kargo and company girls and the Aycock boys had Zellous, Kea and Company..

Mendenhall girls and Aycock boys in that one last year….

  2. Everybody be sure to send us your scores today and I will be on at the Smith-Dudley games and back on the Middle School trail on Monday and for St. Pius, the Eastern Guilford girls will be facing a tough opponent…

Coach Kristen Shelton always has those St. Pius girls ready and primed to play…

  3. I know St. Pius has a girls team, but does St. Pius have a boys team too….Never really heard of their boys team, if they have one, not sure…NC might mean No Contest or No Game on that one…

  4. St Pius Girls over Eastern Girls by 23, I think 58-35. And there is a boys team over at St Pius, four actually. They were down to Eastern by 5 with 3 to play, then Eastern got lead black to 10. Not sure what the NC comment was referring to.

  5. Kernodle Cougars Girls defeated Jamestown Tigers 48-22. Lead by Hailey Blackwell -22pts
    Cori McMillan- 7
    Lauryn Sells- 7
    Ava Cowles- 2
    Grace Gilbert- 2
    Jalen Neas-6
    Sophie- 2

  6. No dis on the St. Pius boys…NC was from earlier in our talks and it might Non-conference game and we just before we learned that, that it might mean that there would be no contest or no game played that day….

  7. Eastern Guilford boys 62-50 over St Pius Led b Kadyn Dawkins with 23 pts, 6 assists 3 steals 2 rebounds, Zion Connor 15 pts 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Chase Ford with 7 pts and 12 rebounds. Also Andy if you got time Aycock and Mendenhall boys will be the game of the season them two are top dogs in the county!

  8. Mendenhall 50, SouthEast 36
    Mendenhall moves to 10-0

Looked like Jaden Ellis was top scorer tonight.
