Another installment of the heated Grimsley vs Page rivalry took place tonight as the Pirates made the four mile drive over to Sawyer Gym to take on the Whirlies. The Whirlies got off to a quick start in the first quarter but couldn’t hold off Tylan Tatum and the Pirates who ended up winning 71-64.

The game started out with Grimsley getting out to a quick 12-4 lead thanks in part to two threes from Chris Fuller. The Whirlies ended up coming out of the first quarter with a solid 23-14 lead.

The second quarter would see Page go on a 12-6 run to get themselves right back into the ball game. Tylan Tatum scored 12 of his 24 points in the second frame to knot the score up at 33 going into the half.

Grimsley got a huge burst off of the bench from junior Jalen White who ended up with a solid double-double of 16 points and snatching down 10 boards, 5 of which were offensive.

Tatum continued his strong outing by putting up 10 more points in the second half knocking down free throws and getting to the charity stripe.

Grimsley showed spurts of life and a comeback late in the fourth quarter but thanks to 10 points from Elijah Short as well as 3 steals ending up giving the Pirates the victory.
