ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s basketball team looks to build on its winning streak as it hosts the James Madison on Thursday, Feb. 2, inside Alumni Gym. The game tips off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcasted nationally on American Sports Network.

NEW BAG POLICY AT ALUMNI GYM
Beginning this season, Elon University has implemented a new policy for bags entering Alumni Gym. All bags entering the arena will be checked before fans reach the ticket booths at the facility. Multiple lines will be available and there will be specific lines for fans entering with no bags.
The following items will be prohibited from Alumni Gym:
• Weapons
• Explosives
* Alcoholic beverages
• Outside food and beverages
• Smoking and tobacco products
• E-cigarettes
• Containers or coolers
• Flags on poles
• Hoverboards
• Pets (except service animals)

SERIES HISTORY
• Thursday marks the 7th all-time meeting between Elon and James Madison. The last five meetings have occurred since the Phoenix joined the CAA in 2014-15. James Madison leads the series 5-1.
• James Madison got the better of the Phoenix escaping with a 60-59 victory in Harrisonburg on Jan. 14, the last time Elon has lost in the last seven games. The Phoenix has never beaten the Dukes in Alumni Gym.
• Both Elon and James Madison split the season series in 2015-16, with the road team winning each contest. The Phoenix earned its first-ever victory over the Dukes, 79-73, in the Convocation Center on Jan. 7, 2015. JMU responded with an 82-64 win at Alumni Gym on Jan. 23, 2015.

• Elon’s four-game conference winning streak marks the largest for the program since the Phoenix joined the CAA in 2014.
• Brian Dawkins scored a career-high and notched his first-career 20+-point game with 22 against the Pride. He has now scored in double figures a team-high 19 times this season.
• The matchup at Northeastern on Jan. 26 wast the first time Elon has held an opponent to 50 points or less since holding Furman to 49 points on Feb. 24, 2014.
• The Phoenix is on it’s first three-game conference winning streak since Feb. 2015.
• Elon won three straight conference games at home by 10+ points from Jan. 7-19, the first time the Phoenix has done so in the program’s Division I era (since 1999-00).
• Tyler Seibring continued his stellar play with his fourth 20-point game of the season against Hofstra. He is averaging 20.2 points over the last six games and has scored 20+ points three times during that span.
• Elon is now 10-3 this season when leading at halftime and having four or more players score in double figures.
• The maroon and gold has won five of its last six games. Elon is outscoring its opponents by a combined 58 points in its last five wins.
GOING BACK-TO-BACK
• Tyler Seibring repeated as CAA Co-Player of the Week after averaging 19.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists during Elon’s 2-0 week. The sophomore also shot 53.6% from the floor.
• The Normal, Ill. native scored a team-high 15 points and added eight rebounds as the Phoenix handed Northeastern its first home loss of the season, 51-49, on Thursday. He followed with a team-best 23 points and six boards in an 84-70 triumph at Hofstra on Saturday.
• The sophomore also earned CAA Co-Player of the Week honors on Jan. 23 after averaging a team-high 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in victories over Drexel (1/19) and William & Mary (1/21). He shared the honor with Hofstra’s Justin Wright-Foreman. He also shot 51.9% from the floor, including a 7-for-11 mark behind the arc.
FREE THROW SUCCESS
• In conference games only, Elon is first in the league shooting 77.8% from the line through 10 games. Elon has made above 80% of its free throws in four of those contests.
• The Phoenix had its best shooting performance from the line on Thursday, Jan. 19, against Drexel, finishing 25-of-28 (89.3%) from the stripe.
348 AND COUNTING
• The Elon men’s basketball program has made at least one three-point field goal in 348 consecutive games (not including exhibition games). The last time Elon did not make a three in a game was Jan. 30, 2006, at Georgia Southern when the team went 0-of-14 from deep.
• Elon is currently averaging 10.1 triples per game, which is first in the CAA and 11th in the NCAA. The Phoenix averaged 9.5 made three pointers a game last season.
LUKE EDDY MILESTONE
• Senior point guard Luke Eddy reached 200 assists in his career with three against South Florida on Nov. 17. He currently sits at 265 for his career. He is currently 11 assists away from moving into the top-10 in program history. Tony Chavis ’89 is 10th all-time with 275 career assists.
HEAD COACH MATT MATHNEY
• Head coach Matt Matheny won his 116th game at Elon on Wednesday, Dec. 28, against Central Penn. With the win, he passed Robert “Bob” Burton (1986-93) for the fourth most in program history.
• Matheny currently has 122 career victories and is two wins away from passing D.C. “Peahead” Walker (1927-1937) and moving into third all-time.
JAMES MADISON STORYLINES
• JMU looks to end a four-game losing streak after dropping a tough 66-61 loss to Delaware on Saturday.
• The Dukes sit in seventh in the Colonial Athletic Association standings, but are just two games behind third-place Elon.
• Senior forward Ivan Lukic racked up a career-high 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting against Delaware, seven points more than his previous career best.
• Senior guard Jackson Kent leads the Dukes with 13.9 points, including 16.4 during conference play.
• The Dukes had a season-high 12 steals against Delaware, with Kent leading the way with four takeaways.
• The Jan. 14 win against Elon was also the most recent win for the Dukes, spurred by a 21-point performance from Kent.
