College Women’s Lacrosse News – Guilford Picked Seventh in Preseason ODAC Poll

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s women’s lacrosse team placed seventh and earned 37 points in the annual preseason poll conducted by Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) coaches. Washington and Lee University ranked atop the poll released Wednesday with 81 points and nine first-place votes, while Randolph-Macon College was picked second with 72 points and the conference’s final first-place vote.

The Quakers look to build off last year’s 7-10 (5-4 ODAC) performance that included an ODAC Tournament berth, where Guilford fell short to Roanoke College in the opening round. The Quakers return 15 players, including five seniors. Sophomore Amanda Dionne is back on offense, after a rookie campaign in which she ranked second on the team in goals (46). Dionne also shared the team lead in assists with senior Demming Carlow, both tossing 11. As a team, Guilford ranked fifth in the conference in goals scored (205).

On the defensive side, senior Summer Fowler led the ODAC in caused turnovers with 38. Fellow senior Sammi Milbourn ranked third in saves with 149, single-handedly more than seven other conference teams. Guilford ranked third in the ODAC with 163 total saves.

The Quakers will host their season opener against Berry College Sunday, Feb. 12 at Appenzeller Field in the Armfield Athletic Center.
