I FEEL THAT EASTERN GUILFORD SHOULD BE RANKED HIGH THAN NW. NW HAS LOST 3 GAMES SINCE EG HAS LOST. ONCE AGAIN THE LACK OF RESPECT FOR EG IS CRAZY. THERE IS A LOT OF GOOD YOUNG TALENT AT EG. HACKETT NEED TO SCHEDULE SCHOOLS FROM GUILFORD COUNTY AND NOT ALAMACE COUNTY FOR EG TO GET RESPECT. PUT EG IN HEACO NEXT YEAR AND THEY WILL COMPETE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP. PAGE WON THERE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP. EG BEAT THEM BY 20 AND COULD HAVE BEEN BY 30. ALL I ASK FOR IS GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DO!!

@EG DAD you are right. EG don’t get the respect that they deserve. Both boys and girls have had a good year. The boys are a very good team with Alston, Patterson and Montez. They definitely will be able to compete in the HAECO and be the second best team there behind GDS. Their girls are not half bad with Jasmine in the paint. They would be better if they could keep the kids in district and not lose them to these Academies and Magnet Schools.

EG fans, no disrespect EG has had a very good season and are flying under the radar a little bit. NW lost 3 games since you lost but nobody on your schedule is close to SW. Please don’t tell me you think Eastern is better than SW. As far as the Haeco, you aren’t beating GDS or NW for that matter. Before you toot your own horn look at that awful schedule you guys played. Nothing against the kids because they don’t make the schedule, but that schedule is soft.

  • Fan said,

@Bball Fan, you are right they don’t get to make the schedule but EG had a good team and their better players are Juniors. I would say they would be the second best team at the HAECO. That would be a good matchup against SW and NW. Jalen Alston is hard to stop. I do think Guilford County has the better teams. It would be nice to see them go up against some better caliber teams in Guilford County. The HAECO should have both SW and EG in it and be a 4 or 5 day tournament.

Would like to see how Jaylen Alston, Montez Venable and Ramal Patterson would fare as a three, vs. Jalen Spicer, Tre Turner and Reggie Davis and vs. Kam Langley, Kobe Langley and Keyshaun Langley…

That could tell you a lot, how they would match up there as a three-on-three….Throw in or interchange Thomas Hennigan for Northwest and it would make it even more interesting…

Page with King, Tatum and choose a third guy(Maybe Talton for his toughness), that would be of interest too…

Would be neat to see some of these matchups…Cheek, Bigelow and Crutchfield from Smith, that is a good three too and not sure who the best three from Dudley would be if it would be Hopkins, Boulware, and Crossen or Seagraves and no matter what, in this three-man matchup system that we would enter into our computers, everybody would have to be able to run….

Who is the best three from WG and SG, Butler, Dean, Young from WG and maybe Dearman, Ding and McFadden from SG and who else and from NG you have the two with Johnsen and Pack and who is the third????
Would like to see the matchup of Ding vs. Dean….

You take your top three from these teams and let them run and do you Moorman, Perkins Newman or do you go with Dillard or Smith in there from GDS….GDS has a very strong five….

To those wanting Eastern Guilford in the HAECO, Eastern has its own tournament that serves as a fundraiser for a lot of things at the school. If EG doesn’t have that tournament, where does the money come from?

Also, the Wildcats can’t just join the HAECO because they have a good team for two or three years. They have to be invited, and there has to be an opening. I don’t see either one happening. The HAECO was pretty stable from the time Dudley left and Northern joined the field until Dudley came back and they kicked out Northeast for not selling enough tickets.

EG is a legitimate post player away from being a state title contender, but let’s not forget they lost to a nothing special Northern Guilford team.

I agree EG should be given the respect that is due to them. Let’s be clear they have a strong team as a whole this year. The 3 starting guards played together last year, so there are definitely additional glue guys in the midst that help add to their success this year. I suspect next year will be more of the same and I’d rather see a Millbrook Tourney over HAECO…let GDS keep that one. That loss to Northern came at the top of the season, with less than half the team, and 2 injuries…more circumstantial than talent based. Dudley nor Page are much competition this year, but I’d love a match up with NW and SW. Congrats to Venable on his 1000th point tonight.
