Game Report on Northwest Guilford-Charlotte Catholic Boys Basketball:NWG Vikings knock off defending 4-A Champs with six men in Double-Digits(Turner, Rakes, Hennigan, Funderburg, Spicer, R. Davis)

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 95, CHARLOTTE CATHOLIC 74
GAME NOTES:
–In the 1st round of the NCHSAA playoffs, Northwest Guilford and Charlotte Catholic played a very entertaining brand of basketball that resulted in a 95-74 victory for the Vikings. Northwest got out to a hot start with a 20-6 run in the opening frame, but the Cougars fought back and trimmed the halftime deficit to only 9 points. The Vikings used ball movement in the 3rd and 4th quarter as they amassed 20 assists on 26 made field goals. The Cougars cut the lead to 7 in the 3rd quarter, but could get no closer as the Vikings made just enough free throws to seal the win.
–Tre Turner led the Vikings with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. Matt Rakes added 14 points and 3 assists while David Funderberg contributed 13 points and 5 rebounds. Thomas Henningan filled up multiple columns of the stat sheet with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Reggie Davis had a nice double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds in addition to his 3 assists, and 2 steals. Jalen Spicer once again set the table for the Vikings as he controlled the game with his 12 points 4 assists, and 3 steals.
–Charlotte Catholic was led by Trey Kloiber and Luke Harkin as they finished with 15 and 13 points respectively.
