The Villains are headed to the Sweet 16 of the NCHSAA 1A State Playoffs with a road victory over North Stanly. The Comets were flying high after going undefeated in conference play and finishing the season on 17 game win streak before tonight’s defeat. The game was tight from the tip. The Villains came out firing in the the first quarter and the Comets did well to adjust in the second quarter to hold Bishop to just six total points. But Bishop forced three straight turnovers to close out the second quarter and trailed by just one at the half. Bishop then came out in the second half with great intensity. CJ Cappuccio led the offensive charge and had game high 31 points. Johnny Pagano and Ryan Moon were strong under duress to ensure great possessions for the Villains. Bishop will travel to Avery Saturday night for the sectional finals. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 PM.
