Elon Men’s Tennis Phoenix Falls 5-2 at Brown, Ending Four-Match Winning Streak

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Elon University men’s tennis had its four-match winning streak snapped on the road Saturday morning with a 5-2 loss to Brown.

The defeat drops Elon to 5-6 on the season while Brown improves to 7-2. With the loss, it marks the first loss to Brown for the Phoenix in three meetings with the Bears after taking 4-3 wins in 2014 and 2016.

The Rundown
Elon’s morning started off on a high note by taking the doubles point. Felipe Sarrasague and Taylor Foote earned a 6-3 win at No. 2 and Salvador Mijares and Neal Port took a 6-3 win at No. 3 to clinch the point. At No. 1, Petar Tomic and Chris Humphreys had their four-match winning streak snapped with a 6-2 loss to Gregory Garcia and Lucas Da Silveira.

In singles play, Brown responded by taking five of the six matches to earn the 5-2 win. Elon’s only singles win came at No. 1 from Sarrasague, 7-5, 7-5 over Aaron Sandberg. The win extends his winning streak to five matches in a row. He has now won six of his last seven after starting the year 1-3.
