BOSTON, Mass. – A third-place finish for junior Emily Dixon in the pentathlon kick started the Elon University women’s track and field team’s meet at the 2017 ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, inside the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Dixon finished third overall with 3,636 points, the second straight season that the Bath, England, native finished in the top-three in the pentathlon. Maine’s Grace MacLean won the multi-events with 3,811 points with Khemani Roberts of Coppin State the runner-up at 3,695.
Dixon opened the meet with a time of 8.92 in the 60-meter hurdles, good for third overall. She then tied for third overall in the high jump with a cleared height of 5’ 3.75” (1.62m) and had a toss of 36’ 10.5” (11.24m) in the shot put. After a leap of 16’ 8.5” (5.09m) in the long jump, Dixon finished the pentathlon with a time of 2:25.18 in the 800-meters, good for third overall.
The meet will resume Saturday, March 4, at 10 a.m. with the start of the ECAC 60-meter hurdles trial round.
